Nintendo DS
I admit that I had to use strategy guides from GameFAQs to make my way through the game. It is focused around the Elysian Box, which is believed to be cursed, resulting in the death of professor Layton's college mentor. The puzzles used to uncover clues about the box and other interests range from easy to ridiculously difficult. Some of the wording for what you must do to uncover a clue is so vague, there may be no clear solution. This can result in having to give a random answer. As far as graphics are concerned, this is one area of the game that really shines, with its whimsical flare. Even if you are good at traditional puzzle games, like Tetris or Puyo Pop, you will be required to use a high degree of analytical problem solving. Don't feel bad if you need to use a strategy guide or ask questions on a message board. Behind the friendly surface is a cold-as-ice engine requiring precise thinking.
